Viper bites piercing is a type of lip piercing that places two piercings next to each other, usually below the lips. Want to find out more about Viper Bites? Check out our FAQs to find out more about this unusual lip piercing.

What are Viper bites piercing?

Viper bites piercings are placed to the side of the mouth in a pair, a similar distance apart to Dolphin bites. They are spaced further apart than Spider bites. This is one of a number of lip piercings that are pierced with labret bars which are inserted on the outside of the lips and fastened inside the mouth.

Does Viper bites piercing hurt?

Viper bites piercings can hurt more than other types of piercing because the lip has additional nerve endings which will make it more sensitive. The good news is it won’t be painful for long as this piercing can be done very quickly. Remember, you will be getting two piercings in one sitting so it may seem more painful. Most people rate lip piercings at 4 out of 10 on the pain scale.

Are Viper bites piercing bad for your teeth?

Like all lip piercings, there is a risk of ruining your teeth with Viper bites. This is because the labret bar for a viper bite is partly inside the mouth which can be bad if the jewellery rubs against your gums or teeth. This can damage the enamel on your tooth or wear away the gums causing redness and recession. Making sure you keep up good oral hygiene and checking with your piercer that you are wearing appropriate viper bites jewellery will help prevent your piercings from ruining your teeth.

What can I eat after getting Viper bites piercing?

After getting a Viper bites piercing, you should eat cold soft foods to help soothe your mouth and reduce the swelling. During healing, avoid spicy foods as these can cause the wound to re-open and avoid sticky foods as these can get stuck around the piercing jewellery. You can eat hard and crunchy foods but make sure to take small bites and chew slowly when eating. Some people prefer not to eat crunchy foods while the piercing is healing in case it knocks the piercing jewellery.

What can I drink after getting Viper bites piercing?

After getting a Viper bites piercing, you should not drink alcohol and this includes using an alcohol-based mouthwash. Make sure to avoid sugary and carbonated drinks as they can slow down healing. If you can, drink water as often as possible. Some people like to suck ice cubes to soothe the swelling after getting a viper bites piercing. Cold drinks will help you to feel more comfortable during the first couple of weeks which is why some people prefer to avoid hot drinks during healing.

Can you kiss with a Viper bites piercing?

It is important to wait for a lip piercing to heal before kissing someone. If you kiss while a Viper Bites piercing is still healing you may introduce bacteria into the mouth which could harm your new piercing and even cause an infection. You can kiss with a viper bites piercing once it has healed.

Can you take out viper bites piercing?

If you take out a viper bites piercing while it is still healing then it will close over quite quickly. Just like any lip piercing, until you have had it for several months or years you will not be able to leave it open without the hole closing up. You may find that even after your viper bites piercing has healed it starts to shrink if you leave it without jewellery for more than a few hours. You shouldn’t take out your jewellery to change it until the piercing has fully healed as this can aggravate the piercing wound and extend the healing time.

What is the difference between viper bites and Spider bites?

Spider bites and viper bites look very similar but there is a difference between these lip piercings. Viper bites are spaced further apart than Spider bites – Viper bites have a similar distance as Dolphin bites. Some people also confuse snake bites with viper bites because the names are similar. Snake bites are placed at either side of the mouth whereas viper bites are placed together.

Getting the Viper bites piercing can give you more freedom to choose where you would like your piercing to be placed as it simply describes a double piercing on one side of the mouth. Why not customise your look and get creative with viper bites piercing jewellery?
