Your new genital piercing has been performed in a sterile environment using high quality, sterile equipment and using a disposable, single use needle. It is now up to you to look after it to ensure it remains clean. Providing you follow our genital piercing aftercare guidelines you should experience little or no problems.

Genital piercings are easy to take care of and most of them heal very quickly. However, great care must be taken not to cause unnecessary irritation or trauma to the area during the healing procedure. Therefore we recommend no sexual intercourse for at least the first two weeks, and great care must be taken for several weeks after this. Most genital piercings will fully heal in 4 to 6 weeks. Prince Albert piercings can unfortunately take a lot longer with the average healing time being between 4 to 6 months.
To clean your new piercing you must use a solution of natural salt and pre-boiled water. How you actually clean your piercing is entirely up to you. Some people put a few spoons of salt in their bath water, others (usually men) mix a small spoon full of salt in a mug and soak the area in the cup, whilst others mix up a small pinch of salt in an egg cup and clean the piercing using a cotton bud. Basically, it doesnât matter how you do it just make sure you do! The piercing will need to be cleaned using your chosen method twice a day for 6 weeks.
The jewellery can usually be changed a few weeks after you have completed the cleaning regime.
Do not twist or move your jewellery unnecessarily and never remove the jewellery before it is due to be changed. Genital piercings can unfortunately be susceptible to migration or rejection. This process is usually painless but it can leave behind a small scar. If you ever think you are experiencing this simply return to store to see a piercer and they will advise you on the best course of action.
As with any new piercing a local area of redness and a small amount of white/yellowish discharge are both healthy and completely normal.
