The canine bite piercing is placed above the top lip and below the bottom lip and consists of four piercings. The canine piercing gets its name because the piercings are placed over the canine teeth. It is a combination of angel bites and snake bites. The symmetrical piercing is placed near to the corners of the mouth.

Do canine bite piercings hurt?

Canine bite piercings do hurt but no more than any other lip piercings. However, you will be getting four piercings done in one sitting which can make it feel more painful because the piercing procedure will last for longer. You may find that your canine bite piercings hurt after they have been done. This is usually because the piercing site becomes swollen which is increased because there are four piercings.

What should I eat after getting a canine bites piercing?

You will need to be careful when eating after getting your canine bites piercing. After any lip piercing, you should eat soft cold foods to help reduce swelling and avoid irritating your new piercing wound. After getting a canine bites piercing avoid spicy and sticky foods, including chewing gum. Spicy foods can slow down healing and sticky foods can get stuck around the piercing jewellery.

What can I drink after a canine piercing?

After your canine piercing, you should drink cool water to help reduce swelling. You can also suck on an ice cube or water ice lolly to help soothe your mouth. Avoid alcohol and carbonated drinks during the initial healing period as these can cause the piercing wound to re-open and can slow down healing. Some people prefer to avoid milk while their piercing is healing. Make sure to regularly use an alcohol-free and PH-neutral mouthwash to help remove any food and drink debris.

How much is a canine bite piercing?

A canine bite piercing costs an average of £100 - £110. You will be getting four piercings in one so the price will reflect this. How does a canine bite piercing work?

The canine bite piercing works by placing four labret piercings in four positions by the lip. This piercing is a combination of angel bites and snake bites which are placed above and below the lips. Make sure to check the Canine bites piercing age restriction before coming to store. It can help to avoid any undue disappointment. In a Blue Banana studio, the Canine bites piercing age restriction is 16 (ID may be required). Lip piercings are not available with parental consent.

Once you’re all booked in, you will have some forms to fill out. A member of Blue Banana staff will go through the steps and can help you pick out jewellery. Then you can meet the piercer! They too will give you a quick consultation and briefing before discussing the Canine bites piercing location.

Canine bites piercings are usually pierced with a labret. Your piercer will pass a cannula needle through the piercing site and then insert the jewellery. If you want to have your canine bites pierced in one sitting, remember you will be having four piercings at once.

Canine Bites Piercing Aftercare

A Canine bites piercing can take 2-3 months to fully heal. The exact healing time varies from person to person and will need top aftercare to ensure successful healing.

After the initial piercing, your lip is likely to swell and can be quite sore. During the healing process, you should avoid spicy and sticky foods, including chewing gum as this can get caught around your piercing jewellery. During healing, avoid smoking, alcohol, and kissing as this may introduce unwanted bacteria into your piercing wound.

There are two different types of cleaning you will need to do for your Canine bites piercing. When cleaning the inside of your Canine bites piercing, swill a saltwater solution around your mouth twice a day. Ensure there is no food stuck around your piercing, regularly use mouthwash to maintain good oral hygiene, and try to avoid touching your piercing while it heals. When cleaning the outside of the piercing, use a saltwater solution or Tea Tree Oil to gently bathe the piercing twice a day.
