Is one day hair dye bad for your hair?

In semi-permanent hair dye, it is ingredients such as ammonia, Peroxide, and PPD that can cause your hair to become dry and these tend to be found in semi-permanent hair dyes, not one day hair dye.

Wash out hair dye is designed to last for one day or until you next wash your hair, making it the shortest lasting hair dye. It comes in a few forms, including:

Hair Colour Gel

Create a party or rave hairdo with your hair colour gel. This temporary hair colour is easy to use and easy to wash out. Unlike semi-permanent or permanent hair dye, a temporary coloured hair dye will sit on top of your hair rather than entering deeper into your hair strand. This is perfect for a night of fancy dress or a festival. Enjoy having wild hair for 24 hours then jump in the shower and wash it all away.

With hot water and some of your normal shampoo, you will be back to your natural colour in no time at all. You may need to scrub your hair a little more vigorously than usual or apply an extra scoop of shampoo to completely remove your hair colour gel. If you have ever used normal styling gel before you will know that an extra wash can make all the difference in returning your hair to its usual silky self. Once you have got your coloured hair gel wash out you can return to work or school with natural hair.

When you are using a coloured hair gel you may want to wear a pair of gloves, especially if you are using your fingers to rub in the gel. This process can get quite messy and like any other dye could lead to staining.

Wash Out Hair Chalk

Temporary hair dye gel is a little different to temporary hair chalk because you don’t have to set it in the same way. Chalk works best if you wet your hair first and then dry or apply heat to the coloured section. This means that you may experience a more vibrant colour if you use chalk hair dye.

If your children want to try out a different hair colour then hair chalk for kids is the perfect solution. It can be washed out after one day and is designed to sit on top of the hair.

If you do want to colour your hair using this method then make sure to only use chalk hair colour and not regular chalk as hair chalk won’t contain any damaging chemicals and is specifically designed to be used on hair.

Temporary hair colour won’t always work on dark hair however one trick we would like to share with you is to use white hair chalk, gel, or spray first and then apply your chosen colour on top. This can help by giving you a lighter colour to apply your neon or UV temporary coloured hair gel to, therefore allowing the colour to shine through more brightly.

If you are considering trying a new colour but aren’t quite ready for a full semi-permanent hairstyle then why not try a temporary option?
