There are plenty of ways you can take extra precautions when following quarantine rules and social distancing measures. As such, we've made the following PPE Essentials products available for purchase on the Blue Banana store:
  • Hand Sanitiser
  • Face Mask
  • Bandana Facemasks
All can be used as an extra preventative measure to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus, as well as offer the user peace of mind when leaving their home for essential work and travel. COVID-19 can be transmitted through droplets formed when a person coughs or speaks it is important to keep washing hands, as well as ensuring the mouth and nose are covered in public places.

Hand Sanitiser

It has now become a necessity to wash your hands and keep them clean at all times. When buying hand sanitiser it recommended that you check for products with a high alcohol content. This is due to the fact hand sanitiser with alcohol is more proficient at killing germs. Currently, the recommend level of alcohol that should be included in the hand wash should exceed 60% in order to be effective. We have a variety of hand sanitiser gel available for purchase some with moisturising qualities so that your hands can stay feeling hydrated after continuous washing. There are various sizes available so you can find the perfect size to suit your needs.

When washing hands, the general advice to to be as thorough as possible. Once you have applied the hand gel you should scrub evenly over your fingers and hands (front and back). You should make a habit of washing hands when you return home or have been in contact with surfaces.

Face Masks

As well as these standard face mask products, we're found that whats included in our alternative bandana range can easily be transformed into a bandana face mask. Due to increased demand during the Coronavirus outbreak, we are all looking for ways to make DIY home made face masks. If you are looking for ways to make your own face mask bandana then our products, usually used for festival wear and alt summer fashion, can make for a great substitute option.

With the restrictions of movement and the amount of contact we have with other people, there has become an increased important of wearing items such as bandana masks. As, covering the mouth and nose can be an extra measure one can use to keep themselves safe. As well as protecting yourself from possible infection, the wear of a bandana around mouth can stop you from transmitting the infection yourself.

Make Your Own Bandana Face Mask

If you want to make your own homemade bandana face mask then all you need is a bandana and two elastic bands or hair bands (something elasticised). Some recommend including an extra filter (such as a coffee machine filter) in the mask to help further reduce the potential chance of transmission. Here is our quick multi step guide on how to make a bandana mask:
  1. Lay the bandana flat on a surface
  2. Fold two opposite edges inwards, making them meet along the centre of the bandana
  3. Repeat the folding process, again bringing the edges into the centre.
  4. Stretch an elastic band over the end of the bandana and place it a quarter of the way down
  5. Repeat with another elastic band at the other end. It should resemble a Christmas cracker!
  6. Fold both ends of the bandana into the centre so that the elastic bands now run along the edges.
  7. Give the elastic bands a gentle pull; these are what will go over your ears.
As well as this simplified guide on folding bandana facemasks, we have a more detailed guide available. Check out our full How To Make A Bandana Face Mask blog which is a visual guide on how to best fold and make your own DIY facemask. It's a very simple process that will not require much time or effort. A no-sew facemask is by far the easiest way to make yourself a mask.

However, it should be noted that the PPE protective equipment provided here by no means a substitute for other preventative measures that should be being practiced, such as social distancing and washing hands. The essential PPE equipment should be able to give users some extra reassurance that they can leave their home safely.
